There is something extraordinary when you first come upon the hills of Hueco Tanks. It is unlike the geography adjacent to any of the land around El Paso whether it be the Franklin Mountains to the west or the Guadalupe Mountains to the east. A deep oasis of bullet hard sandstone and holey rock, it bares strange geometry filled with overhangs, caverns, caves, and juxtaposed cliffs. A haven for the climber, it absolutely lives up to its worldwide renown. Jugs and crimps sunbleached and chalked, the movements up these boulders are pumpy and unforgiving. Even the most prudent sport/trad climber could not resist a go on the crisp aesthetic lines the Hueco rock provides. If not I, the rock itself implores you to clasp against its features.
